Oversize blown-glass chandeliers for residences, hotels and prestigious commercial spaces.
I design chandeliers, tables and furniture in art glass with the master glassmakers of Murano. Every piece starts as a drawing, goes through the furnace and ends up installed.

I work with partner furnaces in Murano, free from the limits of industrial production: shape, colour, finish and light are tuned to each space, for private homes, hotels, yachts and commercial spaces.

Dining tables, meeting tables, billiard tables and accessories on load-bearing blown-glass legs, with marble or metal bases.

Glass and LED panel cladding, exclusive wall decorations and furniture components for yacht interiors.
What sets this work apart is the use of art glass to build table legs that are load-bearing, or that decorate the load-bearing supports. Some techniques are curious, almost ritual: “incamiciatura”, which cases glass parts in layers of crystal; “petoni” in pure 24 kt gold leaf that enrich the support; and “affumicatura”, where hot glass is exposed to the smoke of burning Marseille soap to create unusual iridescence.

Giovanni Marani
Since 1989 I have worked across architecture, contemporary design and the Venetian glassmaking tradition. My design experience comes from architecture and meets the culture of the Murano furnace. Today I also use artificial intelligence as a new tool for research, visualisation and project development.
Alongside glass design I run an architecture practice in Padua: projects, planning applications and technical consulting for private clients, professionals and companies.

A book on the impact of artificial intelligence on design practice: what changes for those who draw, what remains irreplaceable, and how to use these tools every day in the studio.

Work shown at fairs and events in Milan, New York, San Francisco, London, Barcelona, Verona and Padua. Palazzo Franchetti, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti. Speaker at the Glass Study Days.
Tell me about the space, approximate dimensions and timing. I reply within two working days.
